Our yellow reading folders go back and forth between home and school. It's so exciting to watch these students practice their reading, and it's fun to use a "reading finger" to track where we are when we practice reading as a group.

Snowmen At Night
This week we read the book "Snowmen At Night". We wrote in our journals about what we thought snowmen do at night and then drew snowmen. We followed a directed drawing and practiced shading the snowmen using chalk pastels. I love how these turned out! Here are a few samples.
Spill The Beans - Math Game
This week we learned a new game called "Spill The Beans". We used double-sided chips to make multiple equations that totalled the sum of 10.

Sock Gift Exchange
In the spirit of giving we invited each student to bring a pair of wrapped Christmas socks to exchange with their friends. We put all of the socks in the middle of the circle and took turns choosing a gift to open. Everyone received a nice new pair of socks for Christmas.
Polar Express Day
On the last day before Christmas break, we joined Miss VanTetering's class to watch the Polar Express movie. We wore our pyjamas, enjoyed hot chocolate and candy canes and received a special delivery from the North Pole. What a magical morning.
