Science Experiment - Slime!

We thought it would be fun to do a little Halloween-style science experiment this week.  We covered the "Matter and Energy" science curriculum outcomes while investigating turning a liquid into a solid by making slime. So fun! We had a grade 12 student helper with us too
(Mrs. Richardson's daughter), she just did this experiment in her science class as well.

Service Project

Our class along with 1/2VR completed our first community service project this week.  We want to make sure our preschool friends at Aspire are safe on Halloween.  We created little messages for each student and attached a glow bracelet and a glow patch in a goodie bag for them. Ms. VanTetering delivered the packages to their school on Friday. :)

Golden Garbage Can

 Our class won!!

We show respect by keeping our classroom clean and tidy.  Our school custodian chooses a new class each month that has demonstrated respect by having a tidy class for her to come to each evening. She chose our class this month to win "The Golden Garbage Can" award. Way to go, 1S! We are a team working together to keep our classroom clean and tidy.

Kindness Motto

For our assembly this past week every class was asked to create a kindness motto and present it at the assembly.  Our motto is "Be Kind Everytime" and Sully, Amanda, Autumn and Rachel stood up in front of the whole school to present it.  That's Brave!! Way to go, 1S.

Star of the Week - Autumn

We had fun learning more about our friend Autumn this week. Great job, Autumn.

Pumpkin Art

The students made the cutest Jack-O'Lanterns.  We completed a directed drawing and then used oil pastels to colour the yellow to make it look like the inside of the pumpkin had a candle.  We used paint to colour the pumpkin.

Happy Thanksgiving

The students did a great job on their Thanksgiving cards.  I hope that your family enjoyed your child's card.

We also read the Thankful book. Each student wrote something that they are thankful for on the paper chain.
