Boggle

Each week the students are challenged with a new Boggle Board.  On Friday we go around the room and record the words that everyone has been able to find.  The letters must appear in order and have to touch on either the sides or the corners, words must have at least three letters, no abbreviations or names.
I was so impressed with the list this week.  I had hidden the words hockey, stick, glove, goalie, ice and net in the puzzle.  Here is what the kids came up with! They had so many words I ran out of room on the chart paper.  Way to go!

Hearing And Sound

On Friday we had guests from the Alberta Science Network come and teach us about Hearing and Sound. What a fantastic presentation!

Flat Stanley

Here's a look at all of the Stanley projects on display.

Snowmen

Check out our cute skiing snowmen!

New Year Resolutions

The first week back in January the students worked on writing their own resolutions for the New Year.  The students typed their written work to good copy and then we turn it into an art project to display.

Skiing & Skating

We were lucky to have such amazing temperatures for our skiing and skating days this week!  It was so much fun to get outside.  Thank you to all of the parents who came out to help us out!  And thank you to the instructors from the Red Deer Nordic Ski Club who taught us on our ski day.

Learning the "bug" technique for rolling and then getting back up on skis.

Sounds is Vibration

This week in science we have been experimenting with sound.  We have learned that Sound is Vibration! We have also been learning about the difference between pitch and volume. We have been experimenting with this by making different homemade instruments.

More from Flat Stanley!

Flat Stanley is a world traveler!  In the last few weeks of December we heard about his travels to Red Deer, England, Florida, and Nova Scotia!  So exciting and very interesting!

Scoot!

We played math "scoot" during the last few days of school in December.  This is a fun way to practice math while moving around the room.  Students get one minute to answer a math question and then "scoot" to the next spot to answer another question.  There is a new question on each desk. We mark the answer sheets as a group when we're all finished.

Last Day for 2017, PJ day!

December 22nd was the last day of school for 2017 and it was school-wide pajama day! So much fun!

Polar Express Day!

Here are a few pictures from our Polar Express Day.  In the morning we read the storybook and in the afternoon we watched the movie.  We received a special delivery from the North Pole during our movie.  Mrs. Roberts said it was dropped off by a drone, she brought it straight up to our classroom!  Inside the package were bells and Polar Express keepsake tickets.
It was fun watching the movie in our pajamas while enjoying hot chocolate, candy canes, and popcorn!
