My name is Christine Squire. I am thrilled to be a part of the teaching staff at Mountview School! I love this school! My family has been a part of Mountview School since 2010 when my daughter started kindergarten here. My daughter, Alexis, now attends Central Middle School, but my son, Justin, is still here and will be in grade 5 (FI). Prior to becoming part of the teaching staff at Mountview, I was actively involved in the MV Parent Council and a regular volunteer in the classroom.
I completed all of my education in Nanaimo. My husband, Brent, and I moved to Red Deer in 2002 from Nanaimo, BC. We both grew up in Nanaimo but moved to Alberta for work after completing University. I graduated high school in 1992. All of my post-secondary education was completed at Vancouver Island University (formerly Malaspina University-College). In 1995 I completed Early Childhood Education, in 1996 Early Childhood Special Needs Education. I taught preschool for a number of years before returning to school In 1998. I graduated in 2001 with both Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Elementary Education Degrees.
My Teaching Career:
I had my first teaching job, in 2002, a grade 1/2 split, in the High Prairie School Division in a little town called Falher, Alberta. I loved teaching in Falher. I had a great year and was honored to be nominated for the Edwin Parr Beginning Teacher's Award. After Falher, I taught in Blackfalds for two years, grade 4 and then grade 2. When my daughter was born I became a stay at home Mom. I enjoyed several years at home raising both of my children, and doing all sorts of fun Mommy things! When my daughter started Kindergarten I found I really missed being in the classroom. In 2011 I returned to teaching, working part-time as a substitute teacher in Blackfalds. I really enjoyed the flexibility of substitute teaching while my kids were both very young. In 2013 I began working for Red Deer Public Schools and in the fall of 2014, I was absolutely thrilled to be offered a teaching job at Mountview. I love teaching at the same school that my own children attend.
This will be my fourth year teaching grade 3 at Mountview. I am looking forward to another amazing year.
